Nicolò Bulega smashed his own track record to claim another Superpole at Jerez, posting an incredible 1:36.629. A sensational time, just one second slower than Fabio Quartararo’s MotoGP pole in April, allowing him to put more than half a second between himself and the rest of the field.
With this performance, the Italian rider becomes only the second in WorldSBK history to secure multiple Superpoles at the Andalusian circuit, once again confirming his supremacy over a single lap.
Behind him was Toprak Razgatlioglu, though calling him part of “the pack” would be misleading, as the Turkish rider was nearly half a second ahead of third-placed Sam Lowes. This marks Razgatlioglu’s twelfth front-row start in as many rounds this season, demonstrating remarkable consistency.
Sam Lowes, still hampered by rib pain from the injury that kept him out at Estoril, completed only one Superpole run. Despite this, his single effort was enough to secure third place and another front-row start.
Alex Lowes finished fourth, followed by Andrea Iannone and a delighted Remy Gardner, who claimed sixth and the top Yamaha in qualifying.
Seventh place went to Jonathan Rea, in his final Superpole before retiring from full-time WorldSBK racing. The six-time world champion will start Race 1 and the Superpole Race from the third row alongside Álvaro Bautista and Xavi Vierge.
For Bautista, eighth, the result might seem disappointing given his battle for third in the championship, but his direct rival Andrea Locatelli could only manage tenth. Locatelli will line up on the fourth row with Tarran Mackenzie and Michael van der Mark.
Once again, Jerez proves to be hunting ground for a flying Bulega, ready to defend his lead in the races.
