The Turkish rider set an exceptional lap of 1\u201934.930, a new outright track record, ahead of title rival Nicol\u00f2 Bulega (Aruba.it Racing \u2013 Ducati) and Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Session highlights: Bulega leads early, Razgatlioglu strikes back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session saw two early yellow flags following crashes by Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) and Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) at Turn 3. Razgatlioglu initially led with a 1\u201935.662 but was overtaken first by Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) and then by Nicol\u00f2 Bulega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On his second attempt, the Turkish champion raised the bar: first a 1\u201935.018, then the incredible 1\u201934.930, making him the first Superbike rider to break the 1\u201935 barrier at Magny-Cours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strong performances from Iannone, Petrucci, and van der Mark<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Behind the top three, Alex Lowes will start fourth, followed by Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) in fifth, just 20 thousandths ahead of rookie Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) in sixth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seventh went to Danilo Petrucci, ahead of Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team), the top Yamaha performer. Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) completes the top ten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Disappointments for Bautista and Rea, penalty for Sofuoglu<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two championship frontrunners missed the top ten: Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) and reigning world champion Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing \u2013 Ducati), who qualified only 14th.
