At the Circuito de Jerez, the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider claimed victory in Race 1, reaching the historic milestone of 50 career wins in WorldSBK.

Starting from pole position, Bulega finished 1.657 seconds ahead of Sam Lowes, second aboard the Marc VDS Ducati, while teammate Iker Lecuona completed the podium in third.

The result secured an all-Ducati podium at the final round of the season, underlining the Italian manufacturer’s outstanding competitiveness.

Bulega Unstoppable: 50 Wins in Just 106 Races

At the start, Sam Lowes attempted to challenge Bulega into the opening corner, but the Italian managed to retain the lead.

After a competitive opening lap, the World Champion gradually extended his advantage, setting a pace his rivals were unable to match.

By lap seven, Bulega had already established a lead of more than 1.5 seconds over Lowes. He subsequently controlled the race, maintaining a comfortable margin until the chequered flag.

With this victory, Bulega became the fastest rider in WorldSBK history to reach 50 wins, achieving the milestone in just 106 races.

The previous record belonged to Troy Bayliss, who reached 50 victories after 150 starts.

Bulega also secured his 34th podium finish of the season, equalling the record established by Jonathan Rea in 2019.

Sam Lowes Second as Lecuona Holds Off Montella

Sam Lowes delivered a consistent performance, maintaining second position throughout the race and securing the 15th podium finish of his WorldSBK career.

It was a more challenging afternoon for Iker Lecuona, who had to defend his position against Yari Montella after a difficult start.

On lap seven, the Spaniard ran wide at Turn 12, allowing Montella to move ahead. However, Lecuona responded immediately at the following corner, reclaiming third place.

From that point onwards, the Ducati rider found a consistent rhythm and secured his 32nd career podium finish.

Bautista Charges from Ninth to Fourth

Behind the podium finishers, Alvaro Bautista produced an impressive comeback.

Starting from ninth on the grid, the Barni Spark Racing Team rider worked his way through the field, overtaking Alberto Surra and Alex Lowes before closing in on teammate Yari Montella.

The decisive move came on lap 18, when Bautista passed Montella at Turn 5 to take fourth position.

Montella eventually finished fifth, ahead of Alberto Surra and Lorenzo Baldassarri.

Alex Lowes brought his Bimota home in eighth, followed by Tommy Bridewell and Axel Bassani, who completed the top ten.

For Bulega, who had already secured the World Championship title, the victory represents another remarkable achievement in a dominant season. With two more races remaining at Jerez, the Italian will have further opportunities to extend his impressive winning record.

WorldSBK Jerez 2026 – Race 1 Results

Pos.

Rider

Gap

1

Nicolò Bulega

Winner

2

Sam Lowes

+1.657

3

Iker Lecuona

+2.853

4

Alvaro Bautista

+5.328

5

Yari Montella

+6.615

6

Alberto Surra

+12.074

Fastest lap: Nicolò Bulega – 1:38.195.

Nicolò Bulega continues his domination of the 2026 World Superbike Championship.
