{"id":1068,"date":"2026-02-14T11:50:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T11:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/giornalemotori.com\/en\/?p=1068"},"modified":"2026-02-14T11:51:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T11:51:06","slug":"ferrari-encouraged-by-bahrain-testing-as-sf-26-clocks-over-4500km","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/giornalemotori.com\/en\/ferrari-encouraged-by-bahrain-testing-as-sf-26-clocks-over-4500km\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrari encouraged by Bahrain testing as SF-26 clocks over 4,500km"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Ferrari<\/strong> has emerged from the opening phase of winter testing with cautious optimism, buoyed by strong reliability and a substantial mileage haul ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following a disappointing 2025 campaign that saw the Scuderia slip to fourth in the constructors\u2019 standings, Ferrari has focused its early efforts on understanding the all-new <a href=\"https:\/\/giornalemotori.com\/en\/ferrari-unveils-2026-sf-26-f1-car-can-hamilton-and-leclerc-bring-victory-back\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1004\">SF-26<\/a> under the revised regulations. According to team principal <strong>Fred Vasseur<\/strong>, that approach is already paying dividends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between the Barcelona shakedown and last week\u2019s running at the <strong>Bahrain International Circuit<\/strong>, Ferrari has accumulated more than 4,500 kilometres. The team finished the Bahrain test third on the timesheets with Lewis Hamilton, who suffered a late technical issue in the final session, marking the car\u2019s first stoppage of the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the interruption, the incident did little to dent confidence within the team. Paddock rumours suggest Ferrari had not changed the power unit fitted to Hamilton\u2019s car since Barcelona, underlining the overall robustness of the package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo far, so good,\u201d Vasseur said. \u201cWe\u2019ve completed around 4,500 kilometres and reliability has been strong. That\u2019s the best way to collect data, understand the different options and improve the car step by step. We\u2019re not talking about performance yet \u2014 everyone is focusing on their own references \u2014 but building knowledge has been a positive process. There\u2019s still a long way to go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Development race set to intensify<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferrari has steered clear of early debates over the competitive order, with rivals Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes also playing down their respective form. With the pecking order still unclear, Vasseur expects significant changes in the weeks ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m convinced everyone will bring major upgrades to the next test and probably again for <strong>Melbourne<\/strong>,\u201d he added. \u201cAt the start of the season, the rate of development is very high.
